WEDDING HAIR TRENDS 2019

If you’re looking for wedding hair ideas and the latest wedding hair trends to inspire your bridal look, Laura shares her favourite wedding hair trends for 2019 that you need to know about, from undone up-dos to wedding braids.

Bridal Flower Crowns

Ethereal curls and classic up-dos got even prettier at Barcelona Bridal Week as Alejandro Resta’s models enchanted the fashion crowds with their horticultural halos. Also, seen at Jenny Packham, Wtoo by Watters and Reem Acra, flower crowns are most definitely back on the agenda, and they’re bigger than ever before. The catwalks were in full bloom for spring, from oversized floral crowns to individual blossoms nestled in curls.

Natural and Loose Bridal Hair

If it’s a less ‘done’ look you’re hoping to achieve, go with the flow of your natural texture and create a loose up-do with trailing tendrils. Think Meghan Markle’s wispy big-day bun and you’re on to a winner… I love it when brides choose a more natural, ‘undone’ look. If you wear your hair down every day, wear it down on your wedding day but add a little wave or curl, and maybe pull the front strands back off your face to make them look just a little bit more polished.

Bridal Braids

Spotted behind the scenes at Berta, Cymbeline and Suzanne Neville, bridal braids reigned supreme at the 2019 shows. For an edgy yet pretty swept-back style, switch it up à la Berta and opt for a dramatic plaited parting.

“Romantic, classic, relaxed or bohemian, there’s a braid to suit everyone,”

Bridal Ponytail

Although chic, understated and classic, a voluminous, textured ponytail is still capable of causing quite the stir. It’s always been one of our favourite bridal looks.A ponytail is elegant and sophisticated, but can still make a big statement. We’d recommend wearing this as your evening look because it’s fun, sexy and confident. You can dance the night away and not worry about your hair at all!

Bridal Headpieces

If it’s a fashion-forward edge you’re after, get inspired by the likes of Gracy Accad, Eliza Jane Howell and Yolan Cris who picked out everything from feathers and pearls to pretty pins and bejewelled fringing on the catwalk. A well-placed headpiece can do wonders to transform your big-day look. If you like the idea of an alice band, add it before you put your hair up so it’s built into your bridal look, then finish off with a hold and shine hairspray.
