With the impacts of climate change becoming ever more apparent, we have been looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment we are making it our main objective in 2020 to become a more sustainable salon.
As much as we’re all trying to cut down on single-use items, it’s unavoidable for some of our in-salon treatments. Where possible, we have changed to recyclable or biodegradable alternatives to take away the single-use-guilt. The beauty girls are using biodegradable cotton buds and their new brow brushes are made from bamboo rather than plastic. We are using the NEW & IMPROVED L’Oreal Professionnel hair colour tubes which are 100% recyclable saving 7 tons of plastic per year.
NATURAL HAIR PRODUCTS
We are really excited to finally offer a 99% natural hair care range for clients to use at home. These new sulphate-free professional haircare products by L’Oreal are the latest natural products for earth-loving beauty lovers to get their hands on. The eco-designed shampoos are square-shaped to hold a maximum amount of product in a minimum amount of plastic. This shape also means that the products stack together perfectly, so that shampoos are better palletised and transportation space is optimised. To help women to consume even more responsibly, L’Oréal Professionnel mentions both the origin and function of most of the ingredients present in each Source Essentielle product, on the back of the bottle. As with all the other products, the brand does not just describe the 96% naturally derived ingredients in detail. It also adds that the ‘4% remaining ingredients are necessary to guarantee the sensorial qualities and preservation of the formula. OUR FIRST NATURAL HERBAL HAIR COLOUR
From only 3 ingredients harvested in India, L’Oréal Professionnel has brought together the best of nature and scientific research to create Botanēa. Henna, Indigo and Cassia a are at the heart of the first 100% herbal hair colour. These three herbal powders deliver personalised colour results, from light blonde to dark brown, and white hair is blended for a natural result. L’Oréal Professionnel launched a 3-year-programme to responsibly source Botanēa in India. Our goal is to develop the social economic situation of farmers with local cooperatives, but also to improve and share good agricultural practices in order to create sustainable sources of income.
RECYCLING
In conjunction with Cheltenham Borough Council we now have a recycling system at the salon for plastics, glass, and paper.
SAVE WATER
It’s no surprise that we use a lot of water, but we are taking steps to use less. We are using ‘eco heads’ to reduce the amount of water per hair wash. When it comes to laundry, we wait until we have a full load before putting a wash on, opting for a 30°C setting.
We will continue to look for ways to limit our impact on the environment wherever we can.

The pre-holiday panic is real. Wrapping up loose ends at work, trying to pack and frantically rushing around buying sun cream are just a few of the stresses that can make the days leading up to take-off all the more turbulent. However, making time for some pre-holiday pampering needn’t be one of them. To make it easier we have an amazing 3 for offer on waxing!
To get the best results and to achieve silky soft skin, you need to prepare it pre-wax. You need to have some hair or stubble (anything longer than about 2mm should do it) so that the wax has something to cling on to. Don’t worry about your hair being too long – we can always trim it during the appointment so that everything will be in proportion by the time we’ve finished. Skin sensitivity is heightened just before and during your period so you might want to avoid this time.We pride ourselves on being able to perform virtually pain-free waxes, however it really does depend on your pain threshold. We use premium quality Lycon wax. Our therapists are trained to stretch the skin and position your body in an effort to minimize the pain. If you are particularly sensitive you could take some pain relief before your appointment.
Getting your bikini line waxed for the first time can be somewhat intimidating but our therapists are true professionals; they specialize in intimate hair removal and know all the tips and tricks to make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible.
We recommend wearing loose clothing and cotton undies so that the freshly waxed area isn’t irritated, and for 24 hours after your wax we advise clients to avoid anything that makes you too sweaty. Avoid very hot baths or showers as these can anger sensitized skin – ouch! Skin reactions after a bikini wax depend on your skin type and can really vary. Our therapists can discuss preventative methods when you come in for your appointment. Your wax will generally last 4-6 weeks and we sell a range of products to protect against dryness and ingrown hairs. Shaving is the enemy – If you want to remain hair-free for as long as possible, you really should grow the hair for three to four weeks before getting waxed. That means NO shaving in between – if you don’t let it grow long enough then not only will it potentially hurt more when you’re being waxed, but you won’t get a smooth finish, and the hair will start to grow back before you know it.
